Self- Care : Why you Need Rest and Relaxation

IMG_1511.jpg

I think the term self-care has been thrown around so much in the last few years I sometimes am amazed that it even needs to “be a thing” but it really does! We can often neglect the very instrument and temple we use to provide help, counsel, support and care for others. As moms we can get so busy tending to our children we forget to take care of ourselves. There are a handful of different ways that we can exhibit “self-care” but the foundational one in my opinion is rest. How can you find rest when your children have been screaming all day, a teether, a picky eater that wouldn’t eat anything but oatmeal, a light sleeper that wouldn’t take a nap so you could clean up, or perhaps you have a child that does everything as scheduled; regardless of your situation rest is an essential part of life and though often a rarity for moms, when its obtained it really makes a huge difference on our day.

Bath w/ Dr.Teals

Finding a way to relax can be as simple as a warm bath at the beginning or end of your day. Depending on your schedule of course. I love a long uninterrupted shower. For some a warm bath filled with bubbles, epsom salt and candles- both are great options.

Soothing Sounds w/ Sonorest

Sometimes the best way to tune off the noise of the day is to turn on some soothing and relaxing sounds to help put your mind at ease and help you focus on, well absolutely nothing. A clear mind helps for a relaxing and restful sleep.

Extra help w/ Calms Forte

I never thought I’d need a sleeping aid, and I’m lucky enough to have survived many nights without one. However, I recognize not everyone is as fortunate, which is why I was pretty excited to come across a homeopathic sleep aid by Hylands.

All these items can easily be found at Walmart, drug stores and even amazon (for my online shoppers) these three items provide the extra boost in getting better rest and relaxation.
